Playing with the big boys now

Gyuuuuh! The Lost ending was... well... good. Not perfect, but hell, if I was the one writing this show, I wouldn't have thought of a better way to end it besides **SPOILERS** killing everyone. I may have shed a tear, there were a lot of touching moments. But anyway, as much as I enjoyed this show, I am glad it's over. There are tons of other shows out there I need to watch.

I'm thinking of starting on Battlestar Galactica. I've heard it's good.

I read some old journals of mine. Damn, I was a messed up, violent kid. Explains why I'm a messed up teenager/young adult. I'm a lot less ashamed of myself, though. I know what I am and I'm not afraid to show it. As much as reading the old notebooks made me go "Whut." they also made me proud at how far I've come.

I like turtles.

I'd like to get back in the habit of writing on this blog again. I still think Livejournal is cooler, but I already have so many posts here, so yeah.

Well, I've been seriously fleshing out my Estradia novel. I've started writing again, and I've been drawing the characters. Here's a sneaky peek (I also did character profiles on them, very long ones that I don't feel like posting here, but they're in the description of the drawings):

I'm also working on something for my sister's best friend's 15th birthday. (I guess she's my friend too, haha, but it's more accurate to say my sister's friend.) Huh, that's weird. My sister and her friends are 15 fucking years old. For a moment there, I felt old. Is that sad?

I'm still reading Interview with a Vampire. I'm not sure if I like it yet, even though I'm halfway through the book. Heh, I guess I don't like it much, which is strange, since I loved the movie. Usually books are better. Next on my reading agenda is Kitty and the Midnight Hour, which seems like a very cool book.

Boring post is boring.

LOL didn't win the contest, oh well. Still working on art. Wow, that's a stupid, redundant update. I'm always working on art. Anyway. Yeah. I literally have nothing to say. Why is my life so painfully boring?

I'm kinda hungry.

Yay! Game of Thrones is on On Demand again! I shall watch it all bwahaha. I saw a guy at school that had a House Lannister shirt. I'm more of a Stark person myself, but whatever floats your boat.

Yyyyep. I like the Victorian Steampunk girls better.  I really hope to win. :D Going shopping today, so I guess that's cool. I need some more jeans, you know, some that actually fit. Also a long, ruffley skirt. Kinda like this one:

Not sure what to say. Been drawing like a madwoman. I'm pretty happy with my shiz. Except that now I've realized that the colors look different in the drawings depending on which of my laptops I see it with. >:( So that's poopie.

Um. Entered a drawing contest. I hope I win, or at least place.

School is kinda boring, I have to keep reminding myself that my priority there is to make friends. Which is a little twisted, but really important for me. It's sad to imagine myself living my life completely friendless. What would the point of life be then?

Midnight ramblings seem to be taking over this blog. hehe.

THE GODS HAVE SMILED DOWN UPON ME

... I have a new scanner! It's not new new, but it works, unlike the piece of shit that my school provided me with. :/ So I shall once again grace the internet with my artwork! It's been, what, six months since my scanner decided to jam itself, and I have quite a few pieces accumulated. :D

It's been a boring day otherwise. Woke up at like ten in the morning (In my defense I still only got like seven hours of sleep regardless, which for me is definitely not enough... I'm a 9+ hours person). Did some art for art class, read some stuff for Lit, and I still have lots of stuff to read. I will probably be up until three again... story of my life.

Also, I stalked my favorite artist, Amanda Bussell, aka Shinga. Her webcomic, Head Trip, is what got me really into drawing comics. She's awesome.

Also, I have a little secret: You know those shows on SyFy about people messing in the supernatural, like Destination Truth or Ghost Hunters or Fact or Faked? I've always wanted to do stuff like that, make a living off investigating ghosts or hauntings or cryptids. Except that I would probably be scared shitless when I was actually out there investigating. Psh, watching it on TV is better anyway.

My opinion on Twilight

It's been a few days since I posted, mostly because I didn't know what to write about. Oh, and I was busier than I've been in years. But this morning I got the idea of posting my views on the infamous Twilight. So, here goes:

First off, I am one of those who read the entire Twilight series. I am not the person who read one chapter and couldn’t stomach the rest. Those people are very much entitled to their opinion, and I can definitely understand it. Twilight has just as many haters as fans.

I enjoyed the Twilight series. Yeah, that’s right. With that said, I don’t pretend that Twilight is a masterpiece. I fully comprehend that it is not very well-written and more than a little insane. Nevertheless, I liked reading it. It is fluffy, frilly, and cheesy, but enjoyable. 

The thing that really bothers me about Twilight is the fanbase. Those rabid girls who worship Twilight and  take it so seriously. (They’re called Twi-hards, right? That always makes me imagine the girls getting the equivalent of a boner whenever Twilight is mentioned.) Edward is a god to them and Bella is everything they want to be. I find this incredibly ridiculous. Once Twilight becomes more of a bible than fluff-reading, things get unhealthy.

Edward is not the greatest at relationships (examples are numerous, including stalking Bella, watching her sleep, and making her dependent on him), and Bella is, frankly, a bore.  The two of them share have the sort of relationship that is funny to read about, but really sad when fans try to emulate it.  

I think the main point is that it saddens me to see that novels like Twilight are what people today consider great literature. Also, it pains me to see such a sad, sparkling mockery of a vampire. Dear god, what has happened to the world?
